Healing Trauma with Remote EMDR: A Safe Path Forward

Updated: Oct 3

Hi, I’m Hannah Rawlings, and today I’d like to talk about something close to my heart—helping people heal from trauma through EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprocessing). I know that facing trauma can feel incredibly daunting, but I want you to know that you don’t have to go through it alone. There’s a gentle, supportive way to process those difficult experiences, and EMDR could be that path for you.

What is EMDR?

EMDR is a unique therapy that helps you process and heal from past trauma by working with your brain’s natural ability to heal itself. When we experience trauma, sometimes those memories and feelings get “stuck” and continue to affect us, even long after the event. EMDR helps unlock and release these memories in a way that feels safe and manageable.

How EMDR Works

During EMDR, we use gentle movements (like following my hand or tapping) while focusing on specific memories. This process helps your brain process those difficult memories and allows them to feel less overwhelming. It’s almost like we’re helping your brain "file away" the trauma, so it doesn’t have the same power over you.

Real-Life Application

I worked with Mark, a veteran who was struggling with PTSD. The flashbacks and anxiety were making it hard for him to live day-to-day. Through our EMDR sessions, Mark was able to revisit those traumatic memories in a safe, supported way, and over time, the flashbacks became less frequent and less intense. It was such a privilege to watch him regain control of his life.

Why Remote EMDR Can Work for You

And the best part? EMDR can be done remotely, right from your home. You can be in your safest, most comfortable space while we work through these memories together. You don’t need to face the past alone—I’m here to guide and support you every step of the way.

If you’ve experienced trauma and are ready to begin healing, I’m here for you. Let’s explore together how EMDR can help you find peace and move forward.
